Starting hourly pay rate: $26.00
Knowledge and the ability with exterior painting including surface preparation methods, material application techniques and paint removal methods.
Knowledge and ability with interior painting including: wood finishing, preparation of stains, wall washing methods and material application techniques.
Knowledge and ability with patching, taping and finishing of gypsum wallboard systems.
Knowledge and ability with paint and stain mixing and matching.
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations including those pertaining to ladders, staging, swing scaffolds, ropes, environmental and fire hazards.
Knowledge and ability with the set-up and use of staging, scaffolding, ladders, swing scaffolds, moving scaffolds and lifts.
Ability to maintain records of work performed and time required to accomplish assigned tasks.
Ability to safely perform all tasks of the trade.
Ability to distinguish colors.
Work requires walking, lifting, climbing, bending, reaching and kneeling.
Experience working cross-culturally and/ or commitment to work toward one's own cultural competence, i.e., valuing difference/diversity, recognizing personal limitations in one's skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Proven ability to work from shop drawings, blueprints and sketches.
Proven ability to palsn and layout repair and maintenance work.
Ability to prepare drawings and sketches for job-related work.
Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with co-workers, contractors, technical consultants, students and the public.
Ability to work varied working hours and be available on an emergency basis.
Minimum of three years experience as a journey worker painter, as recognized by an appropraite authority or documentaed training and experience equivalant to a journey worker.
Graduate of a recognized apprentice program for painters of equivalent training and experience.
Satisfactory driving record (all driving records will be checked).
Valid Wisconsin driver's licence and personal vehicle required.
