? Proficiency or Fluency in both English and Spanish languages
? Excellent communication skills
? Ability to commit for the entirety of the 2019-2020 academic school year (Sept - May)
? Organized, responsible, flexible, motivated, professional
? Previous experience working with diverse middle school or high school aged youth
? Positive recommendations around attendance, attitude, and performance
? Candidates are either currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution or a college graduate
? Previous AVID tutoring experience and knowledge of AVID tutorology methodologies
? Previous experience working in a school setting or with school staff
? Experience working with students in a pre-college or college readiness program
? Tutors are required to work the same schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays| Wednesdays and
Fridays| or Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday (school site dependent)
? Tutors will work in one of the 4 comprehensive high schools or one of 11 middle schools.
Placement is based on tutor availability, academic strengths, work experience, and MMSD
High School and Middle School needs.
? Tutors are scheduled between 5 - 15 hours of work per week.
? Interviews for the 2019-2020 school year positions will begin in July. Training and placement
will occur in late August and early September.
