Minimum Qualifications


  • Demonstrated knowledge of basketball skills, skill development and game strategies.
  • Successful completion of an approved coaches education course (ASEP) or the ability to complete the course prior to the second season of coaching if no teaching license.
  • Current certification or must obtain within one month of employment and maintain CPR/AED certification from a national certifying organization.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain open communication with staff, student athletes and parents.
  • Competitive experience in basketball at the high school level.
  • Previous coaching experience in basketball at the high school level.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other coaches in the program.
  • Knowledge of WIAA eligibility standards and willingness to reinforce good sportsmanship and compliance with the athletic codes for members of the La Follette basketball team.
  • Demonstrate ability to plan, organize and supervise the team with respect to schedules, equipment, student eligibility, officials and safety.
  • Demonstrate ability to work positively with a diverse population of student athletes.
  • Ability to integrate the basketball program into the total school experience of the student athlete.
Desired Qualifications


  • Preferred: Valid teaching license
  • Preferred: College playing/coaching experience
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability to successfully implement basketball systems in a high school setting

Length of Work:
WIAA 2017/18 Winter Sports Season

Working Conditions:
Will be expected to work in evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements:

The job will require you to stand for extended periods of time, while coaching at practices and games.
