ABOUT THE DISTRICT: MMSD is the second largest school system in Wisconsin and has a student population of approximately 27,000 students in 32 elementary schools, 12 middle schools, 5 high schools, and several alternative programs. The district has a total staff of over 5,900 and an operating budget of $435 million. The District has a 52% minority student population.

Salary

The current daily rate for certified substitute teachers is $152.07. If a substitute is in a long-term teaching position seven or more consecutive days in the same assignment, the rate is $179.04 per day.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Good academic standing
  • Experience working with childern and youth
  • Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one's own cultural competence, i.e., valuing difference/diversity recognizing personal limitations in one's skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas

 

Minimum Qualifications

-Bachelor's degree
-Good academic standing
-Experience working with children and youth
-Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one's own cultural competence, i.e., valuing difference/diversity recognizing personal limitations in one's skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas

 

Desired Qualifications

-Teaching or work experience with school-age children, preferably in an academic setting

Applications for this position are reviewed on a continual basis through the Spring of each school year. 

All hired permit subs are required to atttend a mandatory training prior to working. Trainings will begin in September and are scheduled periodically throughout the year.
