The Lead AVID tutor will act as a liaison between AVID tutors and AVID district/school staff.  This leadership position will assist the AVID Coordinator with on-site tutor training, coaching, debriefs and will communicate regularly with school AVID Administrators, Coordinators,  Teachers and site team members. AVID Lead Tutors will support AVID tutors with the implementation of the AVID 10-step tutorial process. The AVID Lead Tutor will also serve as an AVID tutor by actively participating in collaborative groups and tutorials. The Lead AVID Tutor should have the ability to communicate effectively with middle school aged students.

Lead tutors will be paid $13.00 an hour for the time spent in the lead tutor role.

They will be asked to tutor for 4 - 6 hours a week and to support the AVID Coordinator and AVID Elective teachers for 4 - 8 additional hours per week.

 

Work Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays or Wednesdays and Fridays during a school?s scheduled AVID elective classes as well as an additional 6-8 hours throughout the week during the academic school day to provide additional classroom and coordinator support (schedule coordinated to work with the AVID team?s needs). 

Minimum Qualifications

Excellent Communication skills
Ability to commit for the entirety of the 2017-2018 school year
Organized, responsible, flexible, motivated, professional
Previous AVID tutoring experience and knowledge of AVID methodologies.
Previous experience working with diverse middle school or high school aged youth.
Positive recommendations around attendance, attitude, and performance.
Candidates are either currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution or a college graduate

 

Desired Qualifications

Proficiency or fluency in both English and Spanish languages
Previous experience working in a school setting or with school staff
Experience working with students in a pre-college or college readiness program
