ABOUT THE DISTRICT: MMSD is the second largest school system in Wisconsin and has a student population of approximately 27,000 students in 32 elementary schools, 12 middle schools, 5 high schools, and several alternative programs. The district has a total staff of over 5,900 and an operating budget of $435 million. The District has a 52% minority student population.

Salary

The current daily rate for certified substitute teachers is $153.99. If a substitute is in a long-term teaching position seven or more consecutive days in the same assignment, the rate is $181.30 per day.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

-Previous classroom teaching experinece.
-Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one's own cultural competence, i.e., valuing difference/diversity recognizing personal limitations in one's skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas

 

Minimum Qualifications

-State of Wisconsin Teaching License (on file prior to employment)
-Bachelor's degree in Education
-Good academic standing
-Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to work toward improving one's own cultural competence, i.e., valuing difference/diversity recognizing personal limitations in one's skills and expertise, and having the desire to learn in these areas

 

Desired Qualifications

 Bilingual in English and Spanish. 

Other Information

Certified substitute teachers are hired on a rolling basis through Spring of each school year.  We will begin making offers for this position by the end of July 2017.
